What Makes the Riga 4 Black Different

The 13-gauge aluminum frame is finished in a durable jet black powder coat. It is UV-stable, so it holds its color through Colorado sun, and it gives the whole structure a modern, architectural presence that the standard silver frame does not.

Clear acrylic front gable

Instead of a twin-wall front, the Black uses a clear acrylic plexiglass front gable. What is the difference between the Riga 4 and the Riga 4 Black?

Same 135 sq. ft. footprint and the same core performance. The Black adds a jet black powder-coated frame, a clear acrylic front gable in place of the twin-wall front, and Victorian cast metal roof cresting. It is the premium, decorative version of the standard Riga 4.

Does the black powder-coated frame fade or overheat?

The powder coat is UV-stable, so it holds its color through years of Colorado sun rather than chalking or fading. A dark frame does absorb a little more heat than a silver one, but it is not enough to affect the structure, and it can actually help snow and frost clear from the frame faster in winter.

Is the clear acrylic front as durable as the polycarbonate panels?

The acrylic front gable is a rigid, impact-resistant clear panel chosen for visibility and light. It gives you that see-through showpiece look and floods the front with sun. The tradeoff is that a single clear panel does not insulate quite like twin-wall, which is why the side walls and rear gable stay insulated twin-wall polycarbonate to protect the growing environment.

How does the Riga 4 Black hold up in Colorado hail?

Better than most kits on the market. The 8mm side walls and 10mm rear gable are twin-wall polycarbonate, far more impact-resistant than the single-wall panels on budget greenhouses, and the curved roof deflects impact rather than catching it. Colorado's Front Range sees some of the most intense hail in the country, and the Riga's panel thickness and roof profile make it one of the better-suited greenhouses for it.

How wind-resistant is it?

The aerodynamic bell-shaped curved roof is engineered for high wind. Rather than presenting a flat face for wind to push against, the curve redirects it up and over the structure.
